Elena A. Frias brings over 15 years of extensive healthcare and community engagement experience. Her worked has focused on community development, raising awareness on health care disparities, and community and coalition building. Elena holds B.A in Communications from Emerson College and is currently completing her Master’s in Nonprofit Management and Leadership at Northeastern University.
Prior to joining CPEHN, Elena served as the Associate Director of Programs at UMMA Community Clinic, where she was responsible for leading all aspects of the agency’s programs including outreach, retention and patient enrollment and previously held leadership roles at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, Strategic Actions for a Just Economy and the Watts Health Center. Elena is a Cohort 2 Alumni from the 2018 Cedars-Sinai Community Clinic Initiative: Managing to Leading Program, which provides extensive training for emerging leaders in healthcare.
Proud daughter of immigrants from the Dominican Republic, Elena is passionate about educating and celebration of Afro-Latino heritage. A Boston native, Elena grew up in Dorchester and is the eldest of nine children and the auntie to over ten nieces and nephews.
