In 2007, California launched a monumental effort to reform our health care system. Communities of color, historically left out of the process, fought to ensure that policy proposals addressed the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse residents.
The Having Our Say coalition (HOS) was formed to raise the voices of communities of color in the health care reform debate. Since 2007, over 30 organizations have joined the coalition spanning grassroots community organizations, advocacy groups, and immigrant rights activists.
HOS members continue to educate policymakers, our communities, and the media about the impact of health policies on communities of color. We do this through:
