Health in All Policies
What is health in all policies?
Our physical and social environments have a direct impact on our health. Through collaborative efforts among diverse sectors, the state can make more efficient use of resources, reduce chronic disease rates and future treatment costs while supporting healthy places to live, work, and learn. Visit our California Legislation page to see the latest developments in our health in all policies work.
The Governor's Office of Planning and Research – Environmental Goals and Policy Report
The Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) is currently developing a draft Environmental Goals and Policy Report, California @ 50 Million: California's Climate Future. The EGPR is an important vision for the state in light of impending population shifts, environmental and economic challenges, and new policies that emphasize the integration of health and the environment.
CPEHN and other health advocates are working to make sure that the EGPR addresses the needs of all of California's diverse populations. We recently submitted a detailed comment letter outlining how the draft EGPR can better incorporate the needs of communities of color.
The Health in All Policies Task Force
Under the auspices of the Strategic Growth Council, the Health in All Policies Task Force is comprised of representatives from 19 state agencies who are charged with the task of “identifying priority programs, policies, and strategies to improve the health of Californians.” In December 2010, the Task Force released a set of recommendations that provides a framework for working within and across disciplines to improve health in the state.
