Benjamin Tran

Benjamin received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine in 2018. Prior to joining CPEHN, Benjamin was an Assembly Fellow to State Assemblymember Phil Ting, advising him on business and professions, mental health, and firearm regulation. Benjamin is originally from the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County where he worked to increase voter engagement with organizations such as OCA of Greater Los Angeles and the Center for Asian Americans United for Self-Empowerment. He has also spent time interning in Washington D.C. with OCA National – Asian Pacific American Advocates.

Benjamin comes from a family with both refugee and immigrant backgrounds and is driven to ensure that every community has equitable access to the healthcare they deserve. He hopes to leverage his past experiences and translate the needs of communities of color into policy. Benjamin is a native speaker of Teochew, a language that has its origins in Southern China but also has a strong presence across Southeast Asia.
