CPEHN says: Vote Yes on Props 3, 40
Vote No on Props 39, 41, 42, 43, 45
Sacramento, CA – The California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) today announced its positions on November 2026 ballot initiatives. CPEHN mobilizes communities of color to advocate for public policies that advance health equity and improve health outcomes in our communities. Earlier this year, CPEHN launched the Our Money, Our Health Care ‘Voter Pledge,” garnering commitments from thousands of Californians to vote like our health depends on it.
The Ultra Wealthy Must Pay Their Fair Share
“As the ultra wealthy get even richer under H.R.1, Californians are getting sicker – and this isn’t a coincidence. More than one million low-wage Californians will pay for titanic federal tax cuts with their health care – and some with their lives – but voters have a chance to change that with a YES vote on Prop 40. 250 California billionaires hold two trillion in wealth – contributing what amounts to pocket change for them can save health care for people who need it most,” CPEHN Executive Director Kiran Savage-Sangwan said. “CPEHN also urges a YES vote on Prop 3 to maintain current tax rates on high-income earners and prevent a $15 billion annual cut to California’s budget that will further harm our health care.”
Two other measures on the ballot exist only to undo that progress — Props 41 and 42 which are measures placed on the ballot to negate Prop 40; CPEHN opposes these. CPEHN also announced opposing Prop 43, which gives corporations even more power to veto taxes at the local level, allowing them to defeat community-backed revenue measures by convincing a minority of voters.
Say NO to Anti-Immigrant, Anti-Democracy, Anti-Climate Measures
“Health starts in our homes and communities, not at the hospital. That’s why health equity advocates urge a NO vote on measures that compromise our communities’ health and our ability to have a say in the health care system,” Savage-Sangwan added. “CPHEN urges a NO vote on Prop 39 which aims to disenfranchise people of color and Prop 45, which would fast-track polluting projects that disproportionately impact health in communities of color.”
Health Care is On the Ballot
“Our message to every California voter fed up with health care that we can’t afford, care that we can’t access, and a system that doesn’t speak our language is: vote!” Savage-Sangwan concluded.
